How to find a craft in the wiki

You can browse the list of crafts in the wiki or you can search for a particular craft by using the search bar on the top right.

How to contribute to the wiki

  • Do you have further information you would like to add about a craft?
  • Do you know how many trainees and skilled craftspeople there are in your craft?
  • Do you know of a craft that isn't listed that you want to add?

If you would like to edit a craft page in the wiki or create a new page you can:

  1. Register as a user and make the changes yourself.
  2. Contact us with details of the changes you would like to make and we can make them on your behalf.
  3. Complete this form and send it to us so that we can upload the information on your behalf.

How to edit a craft page in the wiki

To edit a craft page in the wiki, you will first need to register as a user. If you are already registered, you will need to log in (top right of the page).

Once you are logged in, find the craft page you are looking for, and click on the pen symbol on the right hand side of the page. You are now in editor mode and can edit the text.

You will find comments about what information should go where in the page. These appear as /*comment*/ and are only visible when you are in editor mode - they cannot be seen on the saved page. You can write next to them, above them or below them, but please don't delete them as they are helpful to other users. We would appreciate it if you could provide references where possible for the information you add, either within the text or at the end of the page.

You can also find further details about what sort of information to add on the Definition of fields page. Click on each field to see its definition and the type of information to include. We would appreciate it if you could provide references where possible for the information you add, either within the text or at the end of the page - but please don't worry if you can't. And please remember that you don't have to answer fill in every section - just as much or as little as you want!

Once you have finished making your changes, click 'Save' on the bottom left of the editing box.

If you don't feel confident using the wiki yourself, please contact us with details of the changes you would like to make and we can make them on your behalf. Alternatively, you can download and complete this form and send it back to us.

How to add a craft page to the wiki

If the craft you are looking for does not exist in the wiki, you can create a page for it. To add a craft page to the wiki, you will first need to register as a user. If you are already registered, you will need to log in.

Once you are logged in, you can use the form below to create a page. Select 'crafts' from the drop-down menu, type the name of your craft into the box and click 'Add page'.

You are not allowed to add pages

You are now in editor mode and have a blank template from which to create your craft page. You will find comments about what information should go where in the page. These appear as /*comment*/ and are only visible when you are in editor mode - they cannot be seen on the saved page. You can write next to them, above them or below them, but please don't delete them as they are helpful to other users.
